I love watching movies.
Well, if it falls within my budget.
Yet as many of my friends will know, I am not easily satisfied with any so-called "blockbusters" acclaimed by newspapers, magazines or unreliable word-of-mouth. I judge and critic by my own standards rather than through the eyes of public opinion. Sometimes I get disappointed with my own choices, sometimes I shoot myself in the feet for not catching supposedly good movies, but most of the times, I stand by my own preferences.
Then again, I can be pretty predictable. Like the fact that I love history stories and will catch any historical war movies, especially if it involves World War II. Or the times I scrambled to catch Robbie Williams on the big screen ever since he fascinated me in "Dead Poets" Society". Or the times I anticipated those books-to-screen adaptations of the books I've loved since as a child.
I do realise that my taste in movies may not coincide with those of my friends' but I always rather pursue my individuality rather than blend into the crowd. Thank God that I do have certain people to turn to for satisfaction of my niche interests. It's the company and the after-movie discussion that always brings enlightenment as well as identification that you're not alone.
Of course, at the end of the day, it's the company that matters. Which explains why I willingly spent an jaw-dropping daylight robbery of $10 to watch a mediocre "Incrediable Hulk" with Geri and Leonard.
When the opinions of many overwrite the voice of one. Blah.
